Why save Outlook contacts to vCard files?

Exporting contacts into standard electronic business card (.vcf) files helps you to import it into many email clients and different devices, such as

  • Lotus Notes,
  • Mozilla, Thunderbird,
  • Eudora,
  • Microsoft Outlook Express,
  • Windows Live Mail,
  • Google Gmail,
  • Apple iCloud,
  • Apple Address Book,
  • Windows Address Book,
  • Mac Address Book,
  • iPhone and iPad,
  • BlackBerry,
  • Palm,
  • Android devices,
  • other devices and programs.

Saved VCF files contain all contact information, such as first name, last name, birthday, postal and e-mail addresses, phones, faxes, notes, photos, and many other contact fields.

How to export contacts from Outlook to vCard?

Supported formats are 2.1 and 3.0. To perform the export, launch and configure the utility:

  1. Select the required Outlook profile and specify one or more contact folders.
  2. Specify the target folder for resulting .vcf files.
  3. Run the program and wait until it finishes.

Contacts can be stored in separate .vcf files or in a single file with all exported information. The program can create the original folder structure on your disk drive or network share. Doing so, the program will place contact cards into appropriate folders as they were before.

Professional Edition owners can save information in batch mode and by schedule. Simply create a Windows Scheduler task and specify the desired schedule.

If you want to create a backup copy of your Outlook contacts, then the best choice is the Export Contacts to MSG Files utility. It retains full contact copies allowing the further recovery.
