Show seconds in "Received" and "Sent"

Outlook fields "Received" and "Sent" show hours and minutes, but not seconds. Is it at all possible to include seconds?
I know that you can define a new field by: View ribbon / View Settings / Columns... / New Column... etc.
For this new field it is possible to format e.g. "Sent" as "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss". But then you meet a new problem: You can't sort your mails by a custom column!
So, if I could control the format of "Sent" without having to define a new field, I would be happy. But is this possible?

Helge Larsen,
Why do you need to see seconds?
Try to add a custom fields with seconds but sort by original "Received" or "Sent" field.
