What is Microsoft GCC and what are its different features?
Microsoft 365 GCC High is built on Microsoft Azure Government within 8 dedicated government data centers. Azure Government is currently certified to FedRAMP High, and the entire suite of GCC High services is undergoing audits to upgrade its certification to FedRAMP High. For many entities interested in GCC High, the foundation of Azure Government is especially helpful because each Microsoft employee working those environments is a US Citizen and background checked. This factor is particularly important for companies handling ITAR data. M365 GCC High includes many of the same feature sets and products of the commercially available Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365 Commercial): SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, etc. However, full parity is not achieved. One notable example is found within Microsoft Teams for O365 GCC High. Unlike the Commercial offering of Office 365, Audio Conferencing for Teams US Government does not include dial-in phone numbers and the underlying configuration in Azure Government to enable the capability. A solution is required for direct inward dial through Direct Routing to allow users to create meetings with Teams Dial-in conference numbers.

Microsoft has three other environments for Microsoft 365. Here’s a quick explanation of each:

Microsoft 365 Commercial
This environment is built to FedRAMP Moderate standards and can be configured to meet NIST 800-171. However, this offering will not currently meet paragraphs e) and f) of DFARS 7012. It leverages the Azure Commercial stack and is generally available through all licensing outlets from retail to Enterprise Agreement.

Microsoft 365 GCC

This environment is largely equivalent to the Microsoft 365 Commercial environment, except that its data is segregated from commercial organizations. It can be configured, with appropriate licensing, to be 100% NIST 800-171 compliant. It leverages the Azure Commercial stack and is available from Cloud Solution Providers and through an Enterprise Agreement.

Microsoft 365 DoD

The DoD environment is built on Azure Government, within dedicated government data centers. The DoD environment is accessible for DoD organizations and cannot be purchased by private organizations.

How to switch from GoDaddy to Office 365?
To migrate from GoDaddy to Office 365 tenant, you shall need the following information:

Access to your Office 365 administrator account
Access to your GoDaddy administrator account
Login credentials of all users’ mailboxes that are to be migrated

Step 1: Export users’ mailbox data from GoDaddy email
You need to export the login data of the mailboxes that you wish to migrate from GoDaddy to Office 365. You will need to have access to their mailboxes to complete migration from GoDaddy to Office 365. Your CSV file is now ready with the requisite information.

Step 2: Set up your Microsoft Office 365 account
In this step, it is assumed that you do NOT have a purchased domain that has been configured to work with your Microsoft Office 365, nor do you have a tenancy for Office 365.

The emails created and the users’ profiles are now in the Office 365 system. Before the migration begins, it is a good idea to create a store of the contacts and calendar information because the IMAP migration that is going to be performed from GoDaddy to Office 365 does not migrate those. Hence, a local copy of the data should be created and saved on your system.

Step 3: Create a Local Copy of Contacts and Calendar
To create a local copy of contacts and calendar, please follow the steps. After launching the Outlook client, you can click on the ‘File’ option from your menu.

After creating a copy of your contacts and calendar locally, now come to a real major step: Migrate mailboxes from GoDaddy to Office 365.

Step 4: Begin the GoDaddy email migration to Office 365
Now that you have set up your Office 365 as well as made local copies of your contacts and calendar information, you are ready to begin the migration. After logging into Office 365 Admin Center, go to Exchange Admin Center. After clicking on ‘Recipients’, select the option of ‘Migration’. Follow the consecutive steps with the guidance of an Office 365 expert.

If you selected the automatic batch migration option, your migration process will have begun, and you shall see the name of your migration batch with the status of ‘Syncing’ next to it if everything went correctly. The whole process might take some time, so please be patient. Once the migration process has been completed successfully, the status shall change to ‘Synced’.

Step 5: Route your incoming email to Office 365
The migration process has been completed, but you need to configure your DNS records so that incoming emails are routed to your Office 365 email mailbox.

Once you update the MX records and Autodiscover records to that of Office 365, any incoming email to GoDaddy shall be redirected to Office 365 instead.

Step 6: Configure Outlook for Office 365
Now that you have successfully migrated from GoDaddy to Office 365, you need to configure your Outlook client for Office 365 as well.

After this, your Outlook client shall restart and when it does, you will see your new profile (which you just updated) listed. The PST files that you had previously created and saved as local copies implemented in Step 3 can now be imported.

Step 7: Delete the migration batch
At this point, you can test whether the incoming emails are being routed to your Office 365 system or not. If it is, then you can go back to the migration wizard and then select the migration batch that says ‘Synced’ as status and click on the trash can icon to delete it. Subsequently, complete any necessary account cleanup on your system.

Email migration is never an easy task; while the steps are not difficult to follow, the process itself can be quite long and tedious to perform. Additionally, there are always chances of errors happening which could cost the company dearly. We provide migration services to help move your email to Office 365 with 24/7 end-user support, without data loss or downtimes during migration.

I hope these steps will be useful to switch from GoDaddy to Office 365.

What are the key benefits of migrating data to OneDrive?
Let us look at the top 3 benefits when using the OneDrive sync client:

1. Be productive and stay connected
OneDrive migration enables you to synchronize your content to your PC and Mac so you can easily and securely access files anytime—even when you are offline. Once you're back online, your new files and edits will sync to OneDrive automatically. You can view and edit your files, as well as collaborate in real-time and share files/folders easily and directly from your desktop—without using a web browser. Also, everyone who has access to these files, will always have the latest version of the file at hand.
OneDrive also allows syncing IRM-protected files and supports differential sync (currently for Office files and rolling out to ALL file types), that saves time and bandwidth by only syncing parts of files that have changed, rather than re-uploading the entire file. All of these scenarios are also supported in virtualized desktop environments.

2. With more files, comes more space
As you create and collaborate on more files and take more photos, do you worry whether there is enough storage on your device? You shouldn’t have to—OneDrive has your back!
OneDrive Files On-Demand on PC and Mac helps you access all your files in OneDrive without having to download all of them and use storage space on your device. You don’t have to change the way you work, because all your files—even online-only files—can be seen in File Explorer or Mac Finder.

3. Access beyond your individual files and folders
We see OneDrive as the files app for Microsoft 365 enabling you to access all your shared content across Microsoft 365, inclusive of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, in addition to your individual work files. OneDrive enables you to sync files and folders from shared libraries that you have access to within your organization harnessing a ubiquitous and secure productivity experience across OneDrive and SharePoint. You can also sync files from libraries or folders that have been shared from other organizations (B2B). This implies, that you can sync content shared not only by peers within your own organization, but also by partners, customers, external contractors, suppliers and third-party vendors outside of your organization that you regularly collaborate with. Two quick notes for admins on B2B sync-
Azure Active Directory (AAD) guest accounts play a key role in making B2B collaboration possible.
A guest account at one organization links to a member account at another organization. As a result, a single sign-in to their account enables access to content from their own organization and from any other organization that have created guest accounts for them.

How to migrate Hosted Exchange to Office 365 manually?
The cutover migration is as simple as getting all users from the source server and pasting them in Office 365. Sounds simple, but there is much more to that. In another article, you can find a detailed cutover migration plan. Below, you can find some steps you need to take before you migrate mailboxes from Exchange to Office 365.

First, you need to prepare your environment. The preparation and planning might take less time than the actual migration, but it still requires a lot of attention. Below, you can find a short task list for a cutover migration.

Update your Exchange 2010 server to SP3. While it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended.
Before you perform the cutover migration, you should disable directory synchronization and unified messaging, if they are turned on.
Enable and configure Outlook Anywhere. In the newest Exchange Server flavors, this is done by default. In Exchange 2010; however, you need to complete this step on your own. To successfully configure Outlook Anywhere, you need to install a trusted SSL certificate and the RPC over HTTP component on your server. You can test whether the configuration went well by connecting to your Exchange 2010 from outside of your network. This will be tested automatically when you connect Office 365 to Exchange 2010, but the manual test will save you some possible hassle later.
Assign permissions. There are certain permissions you must assign to the account used for migration. It is common practice to use a dedicated user account for the migration, which has only the minimal required permissions assigned. The permissions the migrating account needs are Application Impersonation and View-Only Configuration for the Exchange Server and Office 365. Additionally, the target Office 365 environment requires View-Only Recipients role and User management administrator if it is also responsible for re-creating users in Exchange Online.
Create a mail-enabled security group in Office 365. Otherwise, the migration service cannot provision any migrated groups as security groups in Office 365
Verify your domain in Office 365. It requires you to add a TXT record in your DNS zone.
Use Exchange Admin Center to create a migration endpoint. The endpoint contains all the information necessary to connect your Exchange 2010 server to Office 365.
Create and start the cutover migration batch. The batch includes all mailboxes and requires the migration endpoint configured a step before. This is the point when the actual migration happens. After the data transfer is finished, it is worth verifying if everything had gone well. You also need to assign licenses to users.
Now for the post-migration cleanup, switch your domain’s MX record to point to Office 365. After the TTL passes, emails are routed directly to Office 365. You can delete your migration batch and decommission the on-premises servers.

I hope this method will be useful!
